The Araloosa
Bint El Nil
Mares | Stallions
The Araloosa (or Arappaloosa) is a cross between an Arabian and an Appaloosa. An Araloosa must have at least 50% Arabian blood, up to 99.9%. The Araloosa must show Arabian characteristics as well as characteristics of an Appaloosa (eg. mottled skin, irregular spotting on the body, striped hooves, etc.).
Breed description: depending on the percentage of Arabian blood, a horse may show the distinctive dished head, light bone and high tail carriage. An Araloosa should show mottled skin and spotting on the body as well. An Araloosa may have a more stock-ish body type if the percentage of Arabian blood is minimal (50%).
Naming guidelines: no specific guidelines, but we tend to stick to Arabian names.
Our program:
As there are almost no breeders of Araloosas out in the model horse world, we choose to provide the sires and dams people may want/need to pedigree their own Araloosas. We have a few low percentage Araloosas, but mainly high percentage Arabian blood Araloosas. Our Araloosas carry Arabian blood of different strains (mainly Egyptian and Polish). We allow our mares to be covered by our valuable purebred Arabian stallions as to create the ultimate Araloosa with 99.9% Arabian blood.
